5A vehicle restoration must-have
By C. Mills
I buy these from a variety of locations depending on who has the best price, convenience, and availability. They can be had in 3" diameters as well and thus they last longer. I'm using these to clean off dirt and rust on car parts that I don't want to or can't sandblast.

They work very well for me. I find that due to the cost of them that I prefer to do a very light sanding with a 2" sanding disc to get the worst of the crud off of the parts I'm restoring followed by a pass with these pads to do the final cleaning.

In the case of both the sanding discs and the Scotchbrite pads - use a light touch and let the pad do the work. More pressure leads to more friction and they do clean faster but they wear out faster. Too little and they won't work at a reasonable pace. There is a happy medium that you'll have to find for yourself based on your project and sander abilities. I used a 3" pad yesterday to clean 5 front suspension parts yesterday and got all th e work done with the same pad. It has about 30% of it's material left so I'll get a few more pieces done with it. I'm removing paint, minor rust and dirt with the pads. I use sanding discs to remove steel when necessary (sharp edges, welding splatter, etc). The Scotchbrite pads don't last long if I'm doing that kind of work with them.

5best gasket remover
By T. Goodman
I have used these for over 20 years to remove gasket material as well as other sanding jobs in tight areas. I use a right angle die grinder specifically made for the job made by Snap-On. The right angle makes it easy to handle and control, better than a drill or straight die grinder.

4go on and order these!
By David C. Hamilton
A must have for automechanics! really speeds up your cleanup of old gasket material from engine blocks, waterpumps, valvecovers, etc.....also good for cleaning rust from the rotor mounting surface when turning brake rotors to true.
