5Works great to get rid of rust
By Stephen M. Charme
I use different products to get rid of rust depending on what I need to do. This product is perfect for situations where I want a clear spray that will not discolor the surrounding non-rusted areas, and just treat the rusted surface. For example, I have patio lounge chairs with white painted frames and beach chairs with aluminum frames that this product is perfect for. It chemically converts the rust on different screws and turns the rusted surface a dark brown, and in no way discolors the painted or aluminum frames.

I have also used Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer (which I have reviewed on Amazon), which sprays on just like black paint. That works great, for example, when spraying my car's rusted trailer hitch receiver, which was black when new, and looks new again after being sprayed with the Rust Reformer. This product would also work, but then I would have to spray the hitch with black paint.

Finally, sometimes I use naval jelly, which leaves the rusted surface looking the same as with this product. Naval jelly can be applied with a paint brush, and sometimes I use it (such as on my boat engine) where there are just a few rusty spots and I don't want a spray dripping all over the place.

I was very happy to discover this product on Amazon, because my local Home Depot sells only the Rust Reformer and naval jelly to get rid of rust. This product is also very reasonably priced compared to lots of other products that I saw on the internet.

Bottom line: If you want a clear spray that converts rust to a dark brown surface, this product works great. I recommend it.

Update June 20, 2011: I just ordered another can. I have recently used this to spray a lot of rusty screws on beach and patio furniture, some rust spots on an older vehicle, a rusty pair of scissors in my garage, and some rusty clamps that I use during the winter to keep a cover on my patio tables. This just works really well. I still ca n't find this in my local Home Depot, so I am glad that I can buy it on Amazon.

5Rust Converter
By KB USA
I think it was easy to work with, did what it is supposed to do and I am happy with this product. I used it on the hood of my car. I am a almost 60 year old female and used this as a rust inhibiter as well as a under coat. Maybe not a professional job but it looks a lot better than than it did! :)

5The difference between this and other "rust converters/restorers/etc."
By SedgeVS
The difference between this and other "rust converters/restorers/etc." is that this product sprays on CLEAR and ONLY AFFECTS IRON OXIDE. Vehicle paint, chrome, glass, plastic, etc. is unaffected.

This is a pretty big difference since for vehicle repair, which was my main use, you don't want to sand the entire body panel to metal and you don't want a flat black over spray that requires more area be painted than necessary.

Just brush off scaled rust and loose paint, spray on as directed, wait 24 hours for cure (rust goes black) and then sand (~400 grit), clean, dry, and touch up paint. I used Rustoleum Automotive Paint (rattle-can) over this product and the results were great (AND CHEAP).

Good stuff!
