1Ineffective on hard water spots
By Comdet
I had high hopes for this since other products in the Mother's line have performed very well for me. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

On the plus side, the product is easy to use. It's a cream-like consistency (sort of the same consistency as hand lotion) and there is no objectionable odor. The instructions state to use the product with a microfiber cloth, rub well, add more if needed, then polish off with a clean cloth.

I worked on a roughly 6-inch square section of glass for 20 minutes with this. Went through about one-quarter of the bottle. Rubbed until my arm was hurting. The end result: no change. The water spots are still there and only -- and perhaps this is my imagination -- just slightly less visible. And I mean just slightly. At this rate I'd need to spend a couple of hours and a couple of bottles to clean the glass!

You can feel that there is some small grit in the cream, but it is either too soft to do any good, or there 's too little of it. It feels much like SoftScrub (which I also tried with no success).

Their product photo shows a horribly-stained windshield that becomes crystal clear after using the product. Don't expect that to happen. Not even close.

On the plus side, it did not scratch at all, and it left the glass quite clean. However, I can get the glass clean using something such as Invisible Glass for a whole lot less than what this costs.

Hate to give this a bad review since I really like some of their other products, but this is not worth spending good money on. I'll see if I can use the rest elsewhere in the house, such as cleaning the sink. Really sorry that I wasted my money on this.

UPDATE 5/8/2012: The manufacturer responded (see their note below) and provided me with a refund for the puchase price. Kudos to Mother's for standing behind their products! While I still can't give a recommendation for this specific product, I have used, and will continue to use, many of their wax and cleaning products since they work very well.

5Takes Time and Hard Work!
By mrcslnch_uncp
I have a 2001 Ford Escape, and it had water spots pretty bad on the windows. So when I saw Mothers California Gold Water Spot Remover, I thought this was the answer to getting rid of those hard water spots.

After purchasing it, I was eager to try this out and sped home. I shook up the bottle really good and poured a dime-sized amount onto a microfiber cloth and rubbed, and rubbed, and rubbed, and rubbed some more. After about 15 minutes I gave up on it because nothing happened. So I decided to the store to get the buffer head for the drill - Mothers Powerball. I didn't purchase the one for the lights because I figured I could use the Powerball for other things as well.

I prepped the windows with painting tape so I would not get any on the trim, rubber, or paint as the instructions say to avoid. I put the Mothers Powerball on the drill and ran the drill for 10 minutes in one spot, trying to focus on getting the water spots off. This again was a disapp ointment.

I've used Mothers' products before and was very pleased. With this experience, I was very unsatisfied.

So I say, if you have a newer model car (2-3 years old) then this product is for you. For us out there with cars 10 years and older, this is definitely not worth the money.

I'll try this bottle again and again to see if there are any results.

UPDATE: As it turns out, I actually got the water spots removed using Mothers Water Spot Remover and pot scrubber sponges (which can be found on the dish detergent aisle in most stores). I used the hard green side of the sponge and went to work. That kind of abrasiveness was just hard enough but not too hard to where it would scratch the windows. With alittle elbow grease and time, the windows did come clean.

5Mothers Water Spot Remover
By Tex
Bought this product to clean the spots off of glass shower doors and it works great! Goes on like car wax and comes off clean without to much elbow grease. After getting the doors free of spots applied some rainx and it is a lot easier to clean the shower!
