2You Get What You Pay For
By E. Brooks
I was/am in the market for either a sheepskin or lambswool mitt for car washing because those materials are pretty safe for my car's paint. The mother's mitt was soft and it did indeed hold an ideal amount of soapy water. However, I had to give it two stars because the product description clearly stated that this would be lint-free. MY GOODNESS, the amount of lint this thing produces seems excessive. The lint was everywhere. Keep in mind that typically sheep/lamb mitts don't have a long lifespan, but I expected a little more than 2 washes. The effort of having to rinse the lint from the car and to get the lint off of the grit guards, buckets, etc was simply not worth it to me. I have a second Mothers Mitt so I will see if this was a fluke with next's week wash. I'll update the review accordingly.

UPDATE 7/12:

Tried to second mitt. Still a ton of lint in the water even with the Grit Guard. Not nearly as much on the car as the first mitt. I would not recommend this product.

3not "non-linting" as advertised
By C D
Similar item (and price, at the date of this review) from Viking (Viking Genuine Wool Wash Mitt) on Amazon seems of better quality than Mother's. Mother's mitt is not "Non-linting" as presented in product description.

5For Car Enthusiasts Everywhere
By Robert L. Stinnett
I'm a car nut -- I love to tinker with cars, and I love to keep my rides clean and looking sharp. So when it came time to look at a better way of washing my cars the biggest concern on my mind was how to avoid all the fine scratches that normally happen as we wash and wax our rides. I did a bit of research and heard a lot of people talking about using a lambswool mitt. So I decided to give it a shot, and so far I've been very impressed.

I use the two-bucket method, which means I have one bucket of clean water and one bucket of soapy water. Once the lambswool mitt leaves the soapy water and has touched the car it does not go back into that bucket until its been in the clean water bucket. This helps by keeping the soapy water clean and free of grit that causes most of the scratches on the finish of a car. I highly recommend in addition to the lambswool mitt you purchase two of these - The Grit Guard Insert - Black. They help keep that grit at the bottom of the buckets and away from your ride!

The mitts have held up well now for over half a dozen washes. I actually purchased two -- one for the car, and another for the wheel coverings and such. I do not use the same mitt for the car that I use on the wheels -- just extra protection and peace of mind for me.

Lint wise, at first there was some lint fresh out of the packaging. However, once I gave them a good rinsing out before the first use I have not noticed any linting problems since. They are holing up very well, and I have been highly impressed at how soft they are and how they do not want to 'hold onto' grit.

What can I say, if you are a car nut like I am then you deserve the very best for your rides -- and this mitt certainly is one of the best!
